PUERTO
PRINCESA CITY, Aug. 22 (PNA) -- The municipal government of Bataraza,
some 250 kilometers south of this city, will hold a public forum to
generate the sentiments of the residents regarding the inclusion of the
town in the Bangsamoro Juridical Entity on Friday.
Bataraza
Mayor Abraham Ibba said the forum will start 2 p. m. at the municipal
gymnasium, where more than 4,000 residents from Bataraza and Balabac
are expected to join the activity.
Bataraza
and Balabac are among the 712 villages included in the controversial
memorandum of agreement on ancestral domain (MOA-AD) which generated
varying reactions from all sectors in the province and all over the
country.
The
Bataraza government has gained the support of the non-government
organizations and other private sector groups to its opposition to the
proposed agreement.
Bataraza
is known for its nickel mineral reserves, where large scale mining
companies Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corporation and Coral Bay Nickel
Corporation are operating. (PNA)
