Capitol's executive committee proposes P19.1 M projects

BACOLOD
CITY, May 27 (PNA) - The executive committee of the provincial
government here has identified various projects to be sourced from the
20 percent Provincial Development Fund (PDF) worth P19.1 million.
Negros Occidental Gov. Isidro Zayco said the projects are still subject to the approval of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
The
projects included the purchase of jetmatic pumps worth P1.5 million;
books for day care centers, P1 million; port construction and other
infrastructure projects in Manapla town in southern Negros, P4 million;
financial assistance to Balicaocao resort in Kabankalan City, P2
million; coliseum construction in Escalante City, P5 million; road
concreting in Poblacion II, Sagay City, P910,372; educational
assistance and books, P1.2 million; various projects of the Provincial
Environment and Management Office (PEMO), P2.01 million; solid waste
management projects, P790,000; human resource development and training
program, P549,000 and purchase of books on alternative medicines,
P134,000.
Zayco
said the projects are part of the province's continuing thrust to
provide livelihood projects that will alleviate the status of living of
the Negrense people.
He
said that the province is exhausting all possible means to deliver
basic services to towns and cities, especially in reaching the poor
families.
The
governor has recently vowed to distribute each town and city five
rolling cart or "kariton" stores for the indigent ambulant vendors.
This is intended to bring livelihood to poor families which vending as
the only source of income. (PNA)
