CEBU CITY, Oct. 7 (PNA) – The municipal government of the southern Cebu town of Argao awarded at least 64 townsfolk and eight institutions for bringing pride to their hometown during its 400th founding anniversary Sunday.

Argao Mayor Edsel Galeos said it was only appropriate to “pay tribute” to the Argawanon achievers because of their unparalleled involvement for the development of their town.

Galeos said the executive committee carefully picked the awardees that excelled in their respective fields and contributed in the development of the municipality.

He urged the youth to accept the challenge and responsibility as the future of the country and make their town proud of them.

Presidential Management Staff Chief Cerge Remonde, who led the awardees, said it took the town government about 400 years to choose and select “achievers” of Argao town.

Remonde thanked the search committee for taking the hard work in selecting the “deserving achievers.”

He also encouraged the future town “achievers” to follow their dream and become the residents that the town government could be proud of them.

Other outstanding Argawanons aside from Remonde were former Chief Justice Hilario Davide Jr., Romulo Davide, Dr. Agustin Kintanar Jr., Simeon Kintanar, and Fr. Osbaldo Padilla.

The most outstanding institutions were Mima Transit, Sesaldo Transit, Starlife Transit, the government of Australia, Association of Argawanon OFW and Joam Schoorlemmer and Eric Nicholas. (PNA)
