Military-initiated projects inaugurated in Maimbung

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Oct. 14 (PNA) –- Three military-initiated school building projects under the development program of the U.S. Joint Special Operations Task Force (JSOTF-P) were inaugurated Sunday in the island province of Sulu, south of this city.

Maj. Gen. Juancho Sabban, chief of the Philippine military's Joint Task Force Comet (JTFC), reported on Monday that the three new school buildings with eight classrooms each were turned over to the in-charge of Bato Ugis Elementary School in the town of Maimbung.

The inauguration of the three school building projects was spearheaded by Sulu Gov. Sakur Tan and witnessed by JSOTF-P Task Force-Sulu chief Maj. Joseph Mouer, Maimbung District Supervisor Hji.Abdulmoin Lakibul, Maimbung Mayor Najib Maldisa, Sabban, as well as village officials and residents in the area.

Sabban said he is certain that the odds can be braved with everyone's continued cooperation though there are still a variety of development challenges.

"We may only be able to fully achieve our peace objective if we complement it with development. By doing so, we must do it together as progress comes easily for a community where people are educated and well-informed," he said.

Tan stressed the importance of education in the development of a particular place like Bato Ugis in Maimbung town.
