Two Negrense police chiefs receive awards

BACOLOD CITY, Jan. 4 (PNA) -– Two police chiefs in Negros Occidental were awarded with medals for their outstanding accomplishments in office administrative functions and performance, according to the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (NOPPO).

Police Superintendent Harold Tuzon and his deputy, Chief Inspector Victorino Romanillos, were given the Medalya ng Ugnayang Pampulisaya (PNP Police Relations Medal) for the construction of a P3.2-million police station without getting funding support from the San Carlos City government.

In General Order No. 412 signed by Police Supt. Rolen Balquin of the Regional Personnel and Human Resource Development Division of Police Regional Office-6, Tuzon, Romanillos, together with former NOPPO director, S/Supt. Rosendo Franco, were cited for their meritorious achievements rendered as provincial director, chief of police and deputy chief of San Carlos City PNP for their outstanding accomplishments last year.

On the other hand, the Pulupandan Police Station chief, Insp. Joshua Villasis and six others were likewise awarded the Medalya Ng Papuri (PNP Commendation Medal) for their invaluable service rendered to the Philippine National Police Regional Office-6.

Villasis, SPO2 Renante Salgado, SPO1 Hernando Ginotea, PO3 Pedro Lupo and PO1 Allan Deldo were cited for the arrest of Nestor Toling y Pacquiao, a fugitive and the No. 6 most wanted person in the town last May 2008 in Hacienda Purisima Concepcion, Barangay E. Lopez, Silay City. He was apprehended by virtue of an arrest warrant for the murder of Cornelio Sunicad Jr. in 2006.

Villasis, Salgado and PO2 Justin Jamandron as well as PO1 Wennie Espinosa received the Medalya Ng Papuri for their apprehension of escapee Charlie Yanson y Gagante last Aug. 27, 2008 in Green Beach, Barangay Zone 1 in Pulupandan.

Yanson bolted the Davao Prison and Penal Farm in Davao Oriental 17 years ago and his arrest was a result of Pulupandan PNP's timely monitoring and proper coordination with Davao Penal Colony's Administrative Officer II Efren Jarabe.

Police Senior Supt. Manuel Felix, NOPPO director, lauded the PNP officers for their achievements and encouraged others to emulate the accomplishments of the San Carlos City and Pulupandan Police Stations in sustaining the anti-crime efforts of the NOPPO. (PNA)
