MANILA,
Nov. 19 (PNA) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will be the keynote
speaker of the 10th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention at the
Philippine International Convention Center on Friday.
Federation
of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. president
Alfonso Uy and Special Envoy on Trade and Investment and chairman of
the 10th WCEC Organizing Committee Francis Chua will welcome the
President upon her arrival.
Joining
the President will be Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo, Trade
and Industry Secretary Peter Favila, and Tourism Secretary Joseph Ace
Durano.
The
four-day convention, which will be held from November 19 to 22, carries
the theme, “World Prosperity through Chinese Entrepreneurship:
Addressing the Challenges of the Global Crisis.”
First
conceptualized and organized by the Singapore Chinese Chamber of
Commerce and Industry (SCCCI) in August 1991, WCEC provides a forum for
overseas Chinese entrepreneurs to enhance economic cooperation and
promote better understanding among overseas Chinese entrepreneurs and
business communities worldwide.
Being apolitical in nature, the WCEC focuses on economic and cultural issues pertaining to Chinese entrepreneurship.
Through
the WCEC, Chinese entrepreneurs have been a driving force in the
economic development and integration of the Asia-Pacific region. (PNA)
