Navotas DCC launches massive information campaign vs dengue

MANILA, July 4 (PNA) -- As part of its effort to contain dengue this rainy season, the Navotas City Disaster Coordinating Council (NCDCC) announced that it is conducting an information drive against the viral disease in all of the locality’s public and private schools.

NCDCC chief Danilo Dar Santos said that operatives from his unit will saturate the 29 public and private schools in Navotas to teach students about preventive measures against dengue that include disposing old cans, bottles and any containers where clean water can stagnate which can best serve as breeding sites for the dengue-carrying mosquito, Aedes aegypti and keeping their surrounding waterways clean.

According to Santos, he will also ask the students to cooperate with the Navotas City Engineers Office (NCEO) in its ongoing de-clogging campaign.

”Keeping our communities clean and adjoining waterways clear and freely flowing is two of the best steps in insuring that our loves ones will not be infected with this deadly ailment,” the NCDCC chief further pointed out.

Santos said that the NCDCC is being aided in this initiative by the Navotas City Health Office (NCHO), Navotas Joint Rescue Team (JRT) and the local representatives of Department of Education (DepEd).

He said that the seminar started early this week and will go on until all students of the city’s 29 private and educational facilities are fully briefed on how to avoid the dengue fever.
