Zambo prioritizes health program for 2009
ZAMBOANGA
CITY, Jan. 7 (PNA) -– The city government has placed on top of its
priorities the improvement of the health centers in the barangays as
well as the delivery of basic medical services to the people of this
city.
In
line with the program, Mayor Celso Lobregat and City Health Officer Dr.
Rodel Agbulos have agreed that there should be a model structure in
constructing a health center in each of this city’s 98 barangays and it
would be the health center of Barangay Cawit, west of this city.
The
Cawit health center was constructed and inaugurated last year through
the efforts of first district Rep. Ma. Isabelle Climaco.
Agbulos
said that funding allocation for the purchase of medicines for the
health centers will be increased this year in order to meet the needs
of the indigents.
He said the local government will also concentrate its campaign against malnutrition that was noted to increase last year.
Agbulos
said his office has identified three nutrition feeding centers in line
with the campaign against malnutrition: the Ayala health center for the
west coast, Mercedes for the east coast and Canelar for the barangays
within the seven-kilometer radius.
Agbulos
said the malnourished children will be gathered together in the
designated feeding centers for supplemental feeding program of the
local government.
He said appropriate funds have been allocated for the supplemental feeding that would be made every quarter of the year. (PNA)
