Iloilo honors 10 outstanding PWDs

CITY, July 25 (PNA) – Ten Outstanding Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)
in the city and province of Iloilo were honored in a ceremony Friday.
The event is part of the culmination program of the 32nd National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week celebration.
The
outstanding PWD in the province is Armie Demagajes from the
municipality of Dumangas. She is the president of the Iloilo Provincial
Federation of Differently-Abled Persons.
Also honored are Lester Jose Bajada of Batad, Bobby Pahayahay of Concepcion and Anna Liza Hutierrez of San Enrique.
Rounding
the top ten awardees are Jerry Martinez and Daniel Jarencio of the
Philippine Blind Union; Marc Espesor of Cerebral Palsy Association of
the Philippines, Ronald Cortez of the Stimulation, Therapeutic Action
Center, Gil Fresno of Breaking Barriers Young Adults and Wilma Gabales
of the Office of Persons with Disabilities Affairs (OPDA)–Iloilo City.

City head Dolores Laudenorio said that the awardees were honored for
their contribution in helping their fellow PWDs and being active in
programs aimed at improving their physical conditions.
The
awarding rite was organized by the OPDA while the outstanding PWDs were
chosen by Handicap International. The ten outstanding PWDs were
recognized in a ceremony held at the SM City Activity Center. (PNA)
