DUMAGUETE CITY, Nov. 15 (PNA) – Negros Oriental Governor Emilio Macias II has allocated a total of P4.5 million for the renovation of the wood court at the Lamberto Macias Sports and Cultural Complex (LMSCC).

The Negros Oriental Sports and Management Board (NOSMB) decided to start the renovation of the wood court since the scheduled renovation has been pending since July.

Macias said the renovation would be the first since the sports center was built 19 years ago.

He said the renovation should have been done earlier this year but the province hosted several big activities that included the Visayas Olympics Elimination, the Buglasan Festival of Festivals and the UNIGAMES.

The governor further said there is a need to renovate the flooring and ensure the good playing facilities as the LMSCC is the biggest covered sports venue in the province.

Macias said the need for such repair is urgent since the wood court has already deteriorated while some portions have softened.

The wood court flooring will be replaced with Malaysian wood, a special type of wood that is treated with anti-termite chemicals.

The Provincial Engineer’s Office has targeted to finish the renovation within a month.

Due to the repair works, the holding of the Ms. Dumaguete 2008 beauty pageant next week has been moved to the Sidlakang Negros Village. (PNA)
