Davao black belter wins national Muay Thai competition
DAVAO
CITY, Dec. 2 (PNA) -- Veteran Moo Duk Kwan Soo Bhak Do Davao Blackbelt
Steve Grandeza won via a technical knockout in the 63 kg division
against “Yawyan” (Sayaw ng Kamatayan) fighter Ariel Cabusas in the main
event of the Ultimate Strikers 3 Muay Thai Kick Boxing Tournament
Against Drugs last Sunday at the SM Southmall in Las Pinas.
Grandeza
was considered an underdog in the match versus the Pasay City based
Cabusas (10 wins-0 losses) who is considered to be one of the most
respected and strongest Muay Thai fighters in the country.
The event was sanctioned by the National Muay Thai Kick Boxing Council of the Philippines Inc. (NMTKBCI).
It
was Grandeza’s first time to compete in a Muay Thai event. However, he
is a seasoned MDK fighter with a number of wins under his belt.
Grandeza
who was endorsed by Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman William
“Butch” Ramirez to the Philippine National Wushu Zanshou training pool
made his move in the 2nd canto of the 3-round bout.
He
is currently training with World and Asian Wushu Zanshou gold Medalist
Rene Catalan with Corner Men: Edgar Alan Paulino and Jojo Gatmaitan,
Trainers: Edgardo "Bing" Grandeza and "4K" Kebache (boxing). (PNA)
