Treasures of the North' to spice up Dagupan Bangus Festival

DAGUPAN CITY, March 7 (PNA) -- A new and exciting event will spice up this year's Dagupan Bangus Festival 2010 slated on April 16 to May 1.

This is the "Yaman ng Norte" (Treasures of the North) Agri-Trade that will showcase the 'One Town, One Product" (OTOP) program of every city and municipality in Northern Luzon to be held at the air-conditioned CSI Stadia from April 27 to 30.

The festival's organizing committee headed by Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez gave the nod for the holding of "Yaman ng Norte" that will feature different products, delicacies, culture and events of various Northern Luzon towns and cities.

To date, towns and cities from Regions 1, 2 and 3, including the Cordilleras, have already confirmed their participation to the exhibit.

Fernandez said participants will have their own trade booths and exhibits at the CSI Stadia that will cater to consumers from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the opening day and up to 12 midnight on the last day.

Fernandez has invited the public to see and experience the "Treasures of the North" for free.

At the same time, the Department of Trade and Industry will conduct product technology and skills demonstration during the fair.

These include massage and reflexology, manicure and pedicure, empanada-making, seaweed processing, climate change plastic processing, salted egg making, peanut processing, meat processing, abalone culture, fish tapa making, among others.

The four-day fair is sponsored by the Dagupan City government in partnership with DTI, Department of Tourism, Department of Agriculture, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Agrarian Reform and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority. (PNA)
